Our Story

Established in 1970 as R&R Carpets, the business now known as ‘Cowlings’, Cowlings R&R Carpet, continues to provide our locals and surrounding communities with the service and floorcoverings that it is renowned for.  The Burns family founded and operated the business for nearly four decades, passing down two generations, with Carol and her late husband Troy purchasing in 2007.

Frequently Asked Questions!

What is better hybrid, vinyl planks, timber, laminate?

Your new floorcoverings are all dependent on your subfloor – whether its timber or concrete, what is currently installed, how sound your subfloor is, whether your timber subfloor is raised off the ground and does it have air flow under the sub floor?

How long does it take to get our floorcoverings to your warehouse?

We say to allow up to two weeks, it is generally before that however consider natural disasters and unpredictable inclement weather and road conditions and blockages for the logistics companies.

Can you give us a firm quote for vinyl planks if carpet is still down when you come to measure?

No, we cannot give you a firm quote if we cannot see the subfloor. You could arrange for the installer to take up the existing carpet prior to installation of vinyl planks, however if not the installer would not proceed without first contacting the sales team to discuss any floor preparation found and the sales team would liaise with the customer to discuss and decide on the additional floor preparation and costs involved.

 Is wool better than Nylon?

There is no right answer here, wool and nylon have their own benefits.

what is the process, do we select floorcoverings or measure first?

It really is personal preference here, if you are shopping around then possibly measure to inspect your subfloor to ensure we have considered any floor preparation that may be required.
