Our Story

Established in 1970 as R&R Carpets, the business now known as ‘Cowlings’, Cowlings R&R Carpet, continues to provide our locals and surrounding communities with the quality service, floorcoverings and finishes that it is renowned for.   

Richard and Rachel Burns (R&R) were the founders of the business, passing on to Bob and Narelle Burns (son & daughter in law), with Troy and Carol Cowling purchasing in 2007.  Unexpected tragedy struck with the sudden passing of Troy in 2013 which made Carol the sole owner and managing director of Cowlings R&R Carpet. 

With extensive experience and knowledge which comes with over 20 years of owning two floorcovering businesses in this time, Carol continues to deliver quality to the Mid North Coast.   

Carol and Troys children, all four of them have an interest in working in the business with their mum over the past decade with them now reaching adulthood.  

Cowlings is an independent floorcovering business that is family owned and operated.   Being an independent store, our flooring is more competitive with no franchise fees, better buy price and supplies all the leading brands and more.  Our showroom is extensive and showcases display floors for the more visual person. 

We employ 7 full-time employees, and numerous subcontractors to install our floorcoverings.  

Just recently we were part of the Shoreline build here in Coffs Harbour.  For anyone that knows the project, it was a very big project and one our small business was able to manage in a timely manner, with quality materials, finish and workmanship. 

The Cowlings installers are hand selected, possessing family morals values and integrity Cowlings are renowned for.
